Fullerton, Valeria Spencer, 1763-1828
Valeria Spencer Fullerton educated young women in Philadelphia on Arch Street. She was the daughter of Elihu and Joanna Spencer. She married Col. Richard Fullerton in 1786, but was widowed in 1792. They had three sons. Both Elizabeth Upshur and Ann Upshur attended the boarding school run by Mrs. Fullerton, and other students included Thomas Jefferson's daughter Maria also attended school during this time with Sarah Corbin Cropper Wise (1777-1813).
