Chaille, Peter, 1733-1802
Col Peter Chaille was the son of Moses Chaille and his wife, Mary. He married his first wife, Comfort Houston, daughter of Joseph Houston, Sr. by 1753 and his second wife, Scarborough, who was the widow of Nehemiah Holland in 1797. He enslaved ten people in his household, and had 12 children. He served in the Lower House for Worcester County, Constitution Ratification Convention, and served as a justice and commissary to the Orphan’s Court and Worcester County. He served as a Colonel in the First Battalion, Worcester County Militia, elected 1776. He passed away from illness in 1802.
