Parish, David, 1778-1826
David Parish was born in Hamburg, Germany, the son of a Scottish merchant. He moved to Philadelphia in 1806, establishing himself as a financier and land speculator. In 1813, he brokered a $7.5 million loan that enabled the U.S. government to continue and eventually win the War of 1812. He was involved in forming the Second Bank of the United States.
