Laird, James, 1771-1816
James Laird was initially a Presbyterian minister and later the rector of the Episcopal Church. He served as rector at St Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Princess Anne and later in Dorchester County, in Cambridge, where he died. He was the principal of the Washington Academy in Princess Anne for several years. He married Dorothy Winder, niece of Governor Levin Winder of Maryland.
