Dennis, John Upshur, 1793-1851
John Upshur Dennis was born at Beverly on the Pocomoke, the son of Littleton Dennis and Elizabeth Upshur of Cedar Grove. He married Elizabeth Dashiell in 1813, next, Maria Elizabeth Robinson in 1821, then Luisa Jane Holland in 1838. He enslaved twenty-nine people at his home. Across three marriages, he had twenty one children.
