My Dear Child
Yours of the 17th Inst. was receiv'd yesterday with one from your uncle Chauncey, to whom I shall write this morning. I am surprised that you had not received yr frocks when you wrote which I sent by Mr. Nonwiler1 a fortnight ago.
As to your coming home, I look forward to it with a pleasure that serves to cheer me at times, when I feel almost spiritless under an accumulation of family cares which seem to be growing upon me larger and larger. This is no thing to the point however. We must all do to the utmost all we can in the line of duty.
As I shall have to write to your uncle C, I must give you a short letter this time; but when we meet we shall have leisure to talk a great deal.
The girls will tell you all about the ball of the 22d, and of one which is to take place a short time hence. These kind of things are not now within my vocation as I never enter into any scene of the kind. Nor even pay a visit of any sort.
God bless you my dearest
