Kegatank 11th April 1805
Dear Charles
I wrote to you on Monday last by my neighbor Thomas Custis, Esq.,1 who was to’ve sailed the next day to Phila. in company with Major Parker of this place, Jacobs Uncle. Mr Custis will hand you a small Trunk with Twenty Eight therein and the letters addressed to your household [illegible] as well as some other Trifles: The present is to ask you to pay to the Phonix Insurance Company my draft of 111 10/100, the ballance now in my hands of the Sloop Sally’s Sales. I did not intend thus to’ve paid them, but as their letter was received after Mr. Custis had sailed, (requesting a [atto?]) It has seemed more proper and of course pleasant. I shall remit the Sum by an early opportunity to you. We are yet in usual health which may kind Provedence continue to you and yours.
Tell Sarah, our worthy friend Colo Charles Stockly is no more. I attended his funeral yesterday. He died after a short Illness of a Pneumonia. In affectionate love.
I am your father
John Teackle Sr
