Bowdoin, Laura Ann Upshur, 1816-1898

Laura Ann Eyre Upshur was born on November 13, 1816, in Northampton, Virginia, to Arthur Upshur and Ann Billings Steele. She married Severn Eyre Bowdoin Sr. on April 21, 1834, and together they had ten children. She was well read and up to date on literature, science, and politics. She died on August 13, 1898, in Accomack County, Virginia at the age of 81 and is buried with her husband, Severn, at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery in Eastville, Northampton County, Virginia.
