Davis, Thomas, 1746-1815
The Rev. Thomas Davis was the son of Rev. Thomas Davis and Mary Newman Davis. He preached on a trial basis at the Hungars Parish in 1774, but the parish selected Samuel Smith McCroskey as the new Rector. Davis served at Elizabeth River Parish, and with the onset of the American Revolution, he served as chaplain of the First Regiment Continental Dragoons. When George Washington died in 1799, he officiated at his funeral. After serving at the Fairfax Parish, he was Rector at Hungars Parish from 1807 to his death at 1815.
