Milligan, Isaac, 1754-1831
Capt. Isaac Milligan was born on April 3, 1754 in Somerset County, Maryland to John Milligan and Anna Phoenix. During the American Revolutionary War, he served with the Annemessex Militia of Somerset County. He owned cargo ships that carried timber and other goods for Littleton Dennis Teackle, according to his Journal. Capt. Isaac Milligan married Rachel Evans on August 10, 1781, and together they had eight children, three sons and five daughters. He owned and lived on what was called Henderson’s Island, modern day Fairmount, until sometime in the 1820’s and then moved with his wife to Revell’s Neck, where he died on August 19, 1831. He is likely buried with Rachel in the Revell’s Neck Cemetery. A memorial stone was placed at Revell’s Neck Cemetery in the Captain’s honor in 2008 by Fred Howard, a 6th Generation descendent of Capt. Isaac and Rachel Milligan.
