City directories from 1799 & 1801 show William Evans as the inn-keeper of the Indian Queen Hotel in Baltimore, with the hotel located at 187 Baltimore Street. Littleton D. Teackle often stayed at this hotel, and states in a letter that Evans was also the former Baker for the U.S. Navy.
