Oakey, Daniel, 1773 - 1845

Daniel Oakey was a merchant of New York City with premises at 80 Pearl street. In 1803 he formed a partnership with Henry Watkins, and they conducted business under the firm of Oakey & Watkins, at 51 William street. He born in Deverage, Derbyshire, England, the son of Francis Oakey and Mary Horsley Oakey. He married Sarah Catherine Forbes on January 17, 1803, in Essex, New Jersey, and they had eleven children. He's buried at the New York City Marble Cemetery.
