Proud, John Green, 1776-1865

John Proud was a Baltimore Merchant who was a partner in the mercantile house Bigelow & Proud. After the dissolution of his mercantile business, he became successful in Insurance. He was born in Brisol, Massachusetts, the son of John Proud and Laurana Tower Proud. He married Eliza Sophia Coale on October 25, 180 in Baltimore, and they had two sons. He died at the age of 89 in his Baltimore residence on Carey Street.
