Wharton, Clifton, 1801-1848

Maj. Clifton Wharton was born on October 22, 1801, in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, to Col. Franklin Wharton and Mary Clifton. He married Oliveretta Ormsby on August 20, 1838, and together they had at least six children. He died on August 28, 1848, at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and was returned to his family to be buried at Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Section 23, Lot 15.
