Agripinna the Elder, c. 14 BCE-33 CE
Vipsania Agrippina Germanici was born in 14 BCE to Marcus Agrippa and Julia Augusta, the daughter of Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus Augustus, the first Emperor of Rome. She was married to Germanicus Caesar, the adopted son of Tiberius, who was the adopted son of Augustus. Together they had nine children. When her husband died in Antioch in 19 CE, she accused Tiberius of having him murdered. Tiberius exiled her and imprisoned her son, Drusus. She and her son Drusus died in 33 CE from starvation, though Tiberius was suspected of ordering their deaths. Of her nine children, one son and three daughters survived her, the son becoming Emperor Caligula and one of her daughters, Julia Agrippina, was the mother of Emperor Nero.
