Steele, James, 1790-1868

James Steele was born in 1790, in Dorchester, Maryland, to James Billings Steele and Mary Nevitt. He married Pricilla “Cilly” Galloway in 1811, and together they had at least eleven children, two sons and nine daughters. Sometime after his marriage, the family moved to Westland Township, Guernsey, Ohio, where he lived until his death on June 1, 1868. He is buried at the Zion Cemetery, Claysville, Guernsey, Ohio.
