Mythology - Greek - Adonis
Adonis was the Greek symbol of masculine beauty and youth. He was the lover of both Aphrodite and Persephone and, when the two goddesses argued over him, the Muse, Calliope, was the one who rendered judgement that he would spend half the year with one and half with the other. In one of his times with Aphrodite, he was killed by a boar while hunting. Aphrodite mourned his loss by turning his blood drops to flowers, creating anemones.
