Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library, University of Virginia Libraries

The Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library holds more than 16 million objects including manuscripts, archival records, rare books, maps, broadsides, photographs, audio and video recordings and more. Collections are particularly strong in American and British literature, the history of Virginia and the southeastern United States, the history and archives of the University of Virginia, sporting books and manuscripts, World War I, bibliography and book arts. For this project, they’ve partnered with Voices of the Eastern Shore to provide access to the collection, Papers of the Quinby, Teackle, and Upshur families, 1759-1968.

Somerset County Historical Trust

The Somerset County Historical Trust serves as a county advisory organization under the Maryland Historical Trust. They participate in various state and federal preservation programs, advising and assisting local preservationists in individual projects. They serve as the fiscal agent for Voices of the Eastern Shore.

Library of Congress

The Library of Congress (LOC) is the largest library in the world, with millions of books, films and video, audio recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps and manuscripts in its collections. The Library is the main research arm of the U.S. Congress and the home of the U.S. Copyright Office. LOC holds several letters and documents related to the Teackles in its online collections which are in the public domain, and free to use and reuse per their terms of use which we’ve included in the project.

New York Public Library

Built carefully by generations of curators over the past 160 years, the collections of The New York Public Library (NYPL) now exceed 50 million items. In combination with the lending collections, it is the most comprehensive library collection ever brought together for the free use of the public. The NYPL Digital Collections has one letter online related to Littleton D. Teackle which is in the public domain. Per their terms of use, anyone is free to use and reuse this letter, which we’ve included in the project.

Libraries at University of Tennessee, Knoxville

The University of Tennessee Libraries serves the flagship campus of Tennessee’s premier public research university. The UT Libraries supports the teaching, research, and service mission of the university and enhances the academic experience of each student at the Knoxville campus – through outstanding print and electronic collections, reference and instructional services, and top-notch facilities and technological resources. In their online collections, the library provides access to one letter written by Littleton D. Teackle and has granted permission for us to include this item in the project website.
