Why transcribe?

Volunteer transcribers help move the project forward by taking a first pass on letters that have no transcriptions. By the time a letter or page from a journal makes it onto the website, it has been reviewed 4-6 times by the editors, heavily researched, and subject tagged to increase access to the content of the materials. By volunteering to transcribe letters and journals, you help speed up the process of placing these records online.

How do I transcribe?

Transcriptions for this project are written out and subject tagged on our transcribing platform, FromThePage (FTP).
