Wednesday morning 28th May 1800
The messenger who will carry this scrawl is just going off therefore I must be brief.
We expect Mr. J. Teackle’s family with the Messrs. Jacksons1. Perhaps Mr. J. Dennis and lady, H. Teackle and Nancy Read, Peter Hack, Dr T-le, J. Upshur, and L. Townsend are invited also; Dr. H’s three sisters,1 Betsy Teackle from Craddock and Hack, Anna Maria Parker, 1782-|Maria Parker]], papa and cousin Betsy. Col. Handy’s family were invited none from thence except Mr. Robert who is now here [torn page] Upshur.
It is impossible for me to say exactly who will be here. I have told you as nearly as I can. A great many more were invited who we hardly expect will come.
This pen is so intolerable that my characters are scarcely legible.
Your most affectionate,
