My dear sister,
I receiv’d your letter enclosing $20 by Mr. Satchel, and have endeavour’d to fill your memo to the best of my power. However, the shoes came home so late last night that Mr. Satchel had left here before the servant got to his lodgings with the articles which were not in readiness untill eleven o'clock. Brintnall1 had a but a day and a half to make the shoes in, so they cou’d not be here earlier, and the dyer cou’d not even promise to have your shawl dyed in time, and the washer cou’d not have the veil done under two weeks. I shall forward what things are ready by Mr. West, who sails tomorrow for Accomac, and give it in his charge to entrust them to Prettyman the postman, who will see the package safe to Peachburgh, for wh[ich] you will give him a trifle.
As to your bonnet, it is really the best one Eliza tells me she could procure, tho [torn page] hope is very fashionable; The straw [torn page]
