My dear husband,
I miss[ed] the key of the mahogany chest where I keep my best table linen and napkins, I think I sent it home when Mr. Chauncey was expected at our house, and have not received it again. Ask Moses to account for it, and caution him to be exact in taking care of my house linen and other things. I know to an article, what ought to be there when we return and shall expect to find all right. It is unnecessary for him to take any more tablecloths out, as those I left out ought to be washed when wanted, but if it should be absolutely necessary to take one out occasionally, let it be returned to the chest when washed. There were sheets in the big trunk which came from Washington a plenty, let no more be taken out of the sheet trunk. Also there were pillowcases and napkins that came in the big trunk. Please to go yourself, if you have time, before you leave home, and have my trunks and the above mahogany chest unlocked and see if they appear in good order as to their contents and see them locked again.
You will find knives and forks in the sheet trunk if required. There were three knives and forks and three teaspoons, in the big trunk from Washington.
P. S. Write me word whether Moses can find the key of the above mahogany chest. I send all my keys. Please to have them with the chest key, if found, returned to you when you come back to Baltimore, and bring them with you to me. Keys sent: wine closet case, sheet closet, big Washington trunk, large trunk with the plated ware and spoons, sheet trunk, key box, and an old key which belongs to the bench.
