1833.
My dear husband I have given you the following keys, viz. [corner torn] wine closet key, sheet closet do1, where my china is, the key box do, and the key of the mahogany chest where all my table cloths and napkins are. This last named key I wish you by no means to give up, unless Mr Chauncey and our nieces and sister Hetty go to our house in my absence, in which case a table cloth may be required; but if they remain for a very short period, no other table cloth will be necessary
than such as I left out, and the key had not be given up. I think I left out a new one or two, when we left home. I have five pair of sheets in the large trunk which was sent home from Washington and 4 or 5 pillow cases, and sufficient bedding, and napkins in it also. This key, is, also, sent, and if necessary, can be used. Moses knows where every thing is, and he will take out such things as are absolutely necessary returning the keys to you. When our guests have left our house, and giving you a memorandum of such articles as he takes out, for my information when I return home, and count up our goods.
It is best not to let them know you have these keys, unless you find it necessary.
