Princess Anne August 16th 1813
Dear Charles
I waited on Mr. Jackson on Saturday, and found that he had purchased the Lad Peter at 350 Ds for you, and Eliza thinks that both you and Sarah will be better suited, as he is able to go into service at once, tho not much accustomed to the house, as I understand, yet he is said to be promising and is very desirous to go to you. He is purchased at the age of 18 years on the first day of next January. I have taken the Bill of Sale from Mr. Jackson (who had bought and given his own bond for the money) to my self and therefore can authorize the binding when he goes up. He will be sent down to Kegatank the latter part of the Present Week and kept till I hear from you, as I hope see you. I shall keep Peter in the House whilst he remains below. I have drawn for the money pay $350.00 in favour of Geo. W. Jackson Esq at Ten days Sight.
Littleton got home last Wednesday and is well, Betsey is yet delicate, abt her usual health. Mrs. Lion from Chambersburgh with a female companion and nephew of the Doctor on their travel North. Mrs Lion is surely in the last stage of a Consumption, and I think cannot last long, I do wonder at her thus fatiguing herself. I shall go home or as far as I can this Evening. In love to Sarah and the Children.
I am affectionately
Your father
John Teackle
PS. Eliza and Hetty are at their Uncle Dennis. They dine at the late Genl Gales to day and Tomorw at Mr. Waters, abt a Week hence they go to Kegatank.
